Inspiration to other magicians.

Harry Houdini was the greatest illusionist of all time and also the greatest escape artist. Many modern magician from this day have gotten their inspiration from Harry Houdini. Magicians like David Copperfield, David Blaine and others magicians have also known and heard about him. Some of the modern magicians tricks or stunt have been inspired from Houdini acts before.

This is the photo of Harry Houdini and his wife Bess Houdini. They both married in June 1894. They are both happily married until his death in 1926. Although, they have no children but they perform the show together. His wife was a stage assistant. They both buried in different places.  Houdini was a Jewish and he was buried in Queens, New York. His wife who was a stagehand and often part of his act, survived him for almost 17 years and wished to be interred beside him. At her death, her wish was denied and they both were interred in two different cemeteries, in two different countries of New York state.

Biblography

He claimed that he was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on April 6 1874, but the fact was that he was born as Erich Weiss in March 24, 1874, in Budapest, Hungary. He was the youngest of the three sons. His parents was Rabbi Samuel and his mother was Cecilia (Steiner) Weiss. In order to find a better life, the whole family left Hungary and settled in Appleton. The family remained poor. He loves his mother very much and sought ways to ease her hard life. He begin selling newspapers and shining shoes at the age of eight to help out the family.

He is also very interested in magic. After serving as a young circus acrobat. He known as ("Eric, Prince Of The Air"). He began to study lock and the way on how to pick them and open them using a tool other than a key. To earn money that going to support his hobby, he worked at the garment factory as a necktie cutter. When he was seventeen, he entered a show business. He took his stage name Houdini after Robert Houdin, a nineteenth-century French magician. "Harry" was an Americanized version of his name Erich. He married to Wilhelmina Beatrice Rahner who also known as Bess by the age of twenty. She later became his partner onstage as well.

As "Mysterious Harry and La Petit Bessie", they played at the amusement parks and music halls and for a time, they even toured with the circus. They performed a comedy act when response to their magic and escape tricks was poor. He then later made his move into the film in June 1918, playing as the character called Master Detective. The films show him the way his public wanted to see him. There were no camera tricks helping out the Master Detective in each magic routine or stunts.

He was known for his tremendous physical conditions and could withstand blows to the abdomen. He was often challenge people to punch him in the stomach with all their strength. While performing in Montreal, Canada, he was challenge by a students and agreed to let one of them to take a swing. Unfortunately, the student didn't give him time to prepared for the impact. An injury to the appendix was resulted.

The appendix was left untreated for several days and turned into an infection. In Detroit, Michigan, he died of peritonitis caused by appendicitis in October 31, 1926.
